Launched in 1995 by a couple of "Scottie Crazies," Tartan Scottie is a small business located in Tome, New Mexico, U.S.A., specializing in one thing: celebration of the Scottish Terriers that own your heart. Through its national award-winning Great Scots Magazine and other original products designed to promote Scottish Terrier celebration Tartan Scottie provides its own rare 'chicken soup for the soul' to everyone who was ever owned by a Scottie.
Joseph Harvill, Ph.D., is founder/editor of Great Scots Magazine. With backgrounds in theology, philosophy, and journalism, and careers diverse as ministry, university teaching, and cabinet-making, he brings fresh perspective and a new voice to canine literature. Recipient of the coveted Maxwell Medallion for outstanding writing awarded by the Dog Writers Association of America, his publications exploring the magic of canine-human bonds are benchmarks for the celebration of Scottish Terrier companionship.
Charlotte Harvill, B.S.N., left a distinguished career in nursing in September 2000 to become Tartan Scottie's Projects Director and Chief Financial Officer. She brings her own unique passion for Scottish Terriers and a special gentle spirit to our celebration of Scotties.
Our Tartan Scottie 'Board of Directors' is comprised of two wise Scotties: 'Albie,' our six year-old brindle female who is resident goddess of the pack, and 'Burnsie,' our four month-old pup who is wise before his time and inventor of mischief, Scottie-style! These two are aided by a clever wee Scottie-Schnauzer mix named, Sophie, a cancer 'rescue' dog who has the true Scottish Terrier Diehard spirit! Together with the spirits of past companions, Nati, Gus, and Willie, our 'Board of Directors' daily inspires and informs our celebration of the good life with Scotties.

If you know what it means to be owned by a Scottie, then you're our kind of people! Welcome aboard. You've found the place where every Scottie dog is a 'great Scot,' where every Scottie has his day, and where every Scottie lover is king! We're inclined to take seriously the notion that over time people begin to look like their dogs. To true blood 'Scottie Crazies' such resemblance reflects only good taste!
