A friend sent me a Budweiser advertisement that’s too good not to pass on. It features the signature Clydesdale horses and a little donkey who has a dream. Naturally, when I watched the video, I thought of my donkeys, Merton, Dora, Wendell, Molly, Rumi, Shams, and Cole . . . and laughed outloud!
It’s more than coincidence little donkeys share my world with Scotties. I daily see more and more of what I count as Scottie ‘gold’ in my little burros. For example, like my Albie and Burnsie, who are big dogs in little dogs’ bodies, there is so much more in my donkeys than meets the eye. I watch Merton, who is the vision of plodding detachment, and realize how easily one might underestimate him, mistaking his unhurried ways for dull intelligence. He may not be a Clydesdale, but he IS a brainiack!
We’re each ‘little guys’ nursing dreams and trying to cope with Life in a world of giants. The little donkey in the video and the little dog by your side are teachers and guides in the art of less is more.

A very short and fun interaction between a Donkey,
and the Budweiser Clydesdales.

That is the greatest!!!!! Thanks for sharing & for Mertons photo. Love his face.
Love this. Seven Mile Mountain is one of my favorite works. Time to re-read it.
Hee Haw!! Such a cute video… and big dreams come true!! Thanks for a sweet story giving voice to the donkeys in your life who have so much spiritm and make sure you hear them! Great story, Joseph. It goes to show, when one pursues his/her dreams relentlessly, good things happen… with or without hair extensions! Hee Haw!
